Bergen is the home of SK Brann, founded as a ski and football club. They have been friends and rivals of Greystone Rovers since 1951, and over the years have arranged for hundreds of Scottish and Norwegian youths to visit the other country for summer football tours. Bergen is also where doonhamer Nellie Kristiansen relocated with her Norwegian husband Arnlijor after the war and helped established the Bergen Burns Club in 1955, along other Scottish military wives.
